If you don’t have a green thumb and it isn’t the right time of year, this is virtually impossible. A second reason that the plants you bought in the supermarket die is because they don’t get enough water, or rather, too much water. The way you water them can also cause problems…. we can explain why. If you just pour a cup of water over your plants every week, you’re not doing it right. What you probably don’t realise is that too much water stays in the pot with the roots. At the bottom it gets so wet that the roots of your Basil or Rosemary plant start to rot and your plant won’t survive.

The grower has provided the herbal plants at the supermarket with exactly the right nutrients to stay alive for a maximum one week. If you want to enjoy your herbal plants such as Basil, Parsley, Mint, Coriander, Chives, Thyme and Rosemary etc. for longer, you have to add extra fertiliser.
